I flew from Texas for these dogs! Good Lord they are delicious! The Italian beef was the surprise! Sweet/spicy w mozzarella! Cozy throwback 1960 setting.

The atmosphere was very calm and safe there is always a policeman and is very alert. Food was amazing, yet tables and floors could of been a bit cleaner. Highly recommend.

I love Portillo's food! I know they were busy tonight for our high school fundraiser but, not only did we have to go ask for a missing hot dog, they forgot our "liquid gold" for the 3 orders of cheese fries. Sooo disappointed when we got home and realized it wasn't in the bags!😔

Every time I come to Chicago I MUST stop at one of the Portillo’s location! I’m craving it just writing thus review! I always get the Italian Beef sandwich dipped with mozzarella! Yummy and delicious! Their famous chopped salad - to die for and a dessert. Usually the chocolate cake and this time I also hit the strawberry cheesecake! I’m so jealous for locals that get to eat here whenever they want! Run don’t walk to any location!

When the locals recommend a place to eat, you listen. Do yourself a favor and stop in for some Chicago classics you can't get at home. Delicious dogs and beef sandwiches will have me coming back every time I'm in town.

Portillo's is a very fast paced restaurant. I would recommend knowing what you want before you get up to the register because there is usually a long line and they want to get everyone through fast to make sure everyone gets there food fast, so there are no grumpy customers. I ordered off the kids menu and got a pasta with marinara sauce and a meatball, and it came with a slice of bread. I also ordered a chocolate cake shake which I definatly recommend. I would rate it an 11/10 best cake shake I've ever had.

Always a top-notch fast food place. It gets 5 stars because it's good and has a large menu. Would not be my first choice if I was just looking for a burger, though.

Every time I come to Chicago I go to this place! The food is amazing and so is the desert! The Italian beef is so amazing! I usually get my Italian beef sweet and hot. I like the sweet peppers and hot peppers o my sandwich. Dessert is also awesome here. I will get the chocolate cake (amazing!) or the strawberry shortcake also super yummy! The French fries are always crisp and hot and when they call your number it is always followed by some rhyme!

I flew in from Colorado today, my flight was delayed by hours and I was "that guy" pulling into the drive through 10 minutes before close.... but these guys were so nice to me (and my two pregnant sisters) and got our food out for us quickly and it was actually delicious just like I'd been imagining since booking my flight to Chicago. After a hectic day with my plane almost exploding and being put on a different plane, delay after delay, a very bumpy ride all I wanted was a hotdog and cheese fries - these guys did just that. Thanks guys ... it may have been the last thing that you wanted to do before close, but it meant the world to me. Sweet Home Portillos

LOVED this place! What a great atmosphere: neon lights, nostalgic items, and oldies music. The food was exactly how I ordered it and delicious. My favorite part was actually the staff. The hostess Mariloli took the time to explain menu items, the location, and even gave me some pointers on where to go in the local area. She was so nice that I went told the manager. Well wouldn't you know it, he was great too! Overall great experience.

Portillos is always a good choice! The staff here is very friendly and the location can get very busy, but the food is always quality! They had fun heart shaped chocolate cakes for sale for Valentine's Day, so that's fun! The atmosphere is so nice and brings you back in time!

The Italian Beef (Dry) sandwiches with hot peppers are excellent. The cheese and potato fries are the best, good selection of salads also, ask for getting the dressing on the side, just in case you want to change for other flavor. I go on Sundays, it is kind of crowded, but the service is fast and good. No regrets when I go there.

We love this place and try to get to one where ever we travel. We have since moved from the Chocago area, but have been to locations in Phoenix and Indiana. The chopped salad is the best, as well as the Minestrone soup. I always enjoy the beef and sausage as well. Love that they offer free refills on drinks now, as they dis not years ago.Please open in Kentucky!

I wish they had locations all around the country. I walked in with 2 friends for an inexpensive lunch and were treated to this wonderful, techno style diner interior. Trust me, the interiors are amazing! We were greeted by a wonderful lady at the counter who provided us with some good recommendations. We ordered and our food was ready in a few minutes. We got burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, chips. And they were all really good. I strongly recommend this place. Will be back here every time I am visiting my friend in Schaumburg. 😊

Chicago's best fast food chain, IMO. They're famous for their hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches (which are the best), but what makes them stand out is that they have a large variety of food. If you're lucky to go to one with a Barnelli's, you have even more choices, and they're all delicious. The atmosphere and decor is unique and can vary from store to store. Service is relatively quick and they make up any mistakes. With as much volume as they service, I'm surprised they usually get my order correct, even during extremely busy times. If you're not from Chicago, I recommend trying this place at least once during your visit. As a resident, I go here all too often.

Step into the 1950's with a heavy dose of Americana and neon dreams. The meals are heavy, classic American diner fare but they are honestly made a step above your Red Robins and Fridays. They do some specialties like the chocolate cake shake (game changer folks) and their dogs (Yahoo). Take the family, or friends, or go alone it truly won't matter you're gonna have a great time and be too full to care about anything else.

Portillo’s was once the regional pride of Chicago and the Midwest; it continues to be a place of excellent service and a go-to spot for many families of varying social classes as it expands to both coasts of America. It is also WAY better than In-N-Out. To compare the two would be akin to comparing the basketball prowess of Michael Jordan to Brian Cardinal. Long story short: Portillo’s is amazing, In-N-Out induces emesis.

I'm familiar with Portillo's and my coworkers once shipped me a hot dog kit. The chili dog I had was good, but not the stuff of legend, as it was bland. The onion rings were excellent. Interesting decor. Overall, an OK meal.

At first glance they get you with the wild aesthetic and crazy diner vibes... so I thought it was all just apart of the hype because everyone I know from Chicago tells me to go to the place.But for my first time I would say I would go back because I have to see what else is good on the menu...I had a hot dog and fries which was good but nothing to shout about...The menu is huge and there is tons of variety to pick from even though it can get overwhelming.
